75 Hard-Day 8- Are you meeting your daily nutritional needs?

Hello Love and welcome back to my space! Yesterday I completed day 8 of the 75 hard challenge although it’s getting more manageable, it’s still a challenge, lol. As I shared in the blog post below, this challenge has opened my eyes to how unbalanced my diet has been! I wanted to encourage you to download the Daily Dozen app and see where you may be lacking nutrients!

As always, yesterday started with a meditation. Daily meditation has been a game changer in keeping my mental health manageable! I started two years ago and cannot imagine my life without it. After I finish my practice and a quick blog session, I walk Roxy and Chloe. When I drop them off at home, I take off for a run clocking my first 45 minute movement session.

When I get home from my run, I get the kids ready for school! After drop off, I head to Target! Do you remember those Good Humor Strawberry Shorcake Bars? I haven’t had one since I was a kid and I have a hankerin for one, so I went to grab frozen strawberries and freeze dried strawberries, to see what I can come up with! I will share soon!

I headed home and got the laundry started and chilled with my husband for a bit. He went to work next door at his moms house and I cranked up the music and started cleaning! One of the biggest blessings having my mother in law next door is that I have my stay at home mama groove back, lol. I didn’t realize how much I needed that space to be my loud music loving self! After I cleaned the kitchen and living room, I headed upstairs to fold the first load of laundry.

After the laundry was folded, I finished the blog post for day 7, cleaned my bedroom, showered and read a bit. I should mention that, throughout this time I ate entirely too many cashews, so I wasn’t super hungry. I made a delicious smoothie and slowly drank that while folding the next load of laundry.

One thing this challenge is showing me is that I have not been meeting my dietary needs AT all. Sure, I have a smoothie nearly every day but some days, I would have a smoothie, snack on entirely too many cashews and be too full for actual meals. The Daily Dozen app has been a game changer when it comes to tracking my nutritional needs. It’s been a challenge to not simply “eat whole foods plant based” but instead actually making sure I’m properly nourished, which is an entirely different thing!

After I was done with my smoothie, I was willing myself to be hungry so that I could make myself lunch, not happening! Too many damn cashews, lol. My husband and I went to pick up the kids, went to Academy for some last minute festival gear and headed to the grocery store to get hot dogs for dinner. One thing I like about Fridays is we have a rotating hot dog/pizza schedule so I don’t have to think about what’s for dinner!

When we get home I make them hot dogs and myself a big ole salad and we head over to my mother-in-law and have to share a meal with her. After we’re done eating, we go for a walk but my family was done after 15 minutes, lol. I walk for another 30 minutes to clock my second 45 minute movement session for the day! I gotta say, I’ve been loving these after dinner walks!

When I get home, I clean the kitchen and we watch a movie. While watching the movie, I get a hankerin for something sweet, so I made myself some apple peanut butter toast with cinnamon and candied pecans to get the last few boxes off in the daily dozens app. The toast was so good, I made one for my husband and another for me!

After we finished the movie, we all headed upstairs and got ready for bed. I did my last little challenge duty(lol) of journaling and went to sleep!
