Hello love and welcome back to my space! Day 13 of The Artist’s Way Challenge down!!! Although I want to go back and completely re-do Day 11( and I just might), I’m glad I didn’t give up! It was touch and go! The pressure was ON! Today has been the opposite. I’ve been leisurely doing everything at the pace of a turtle and I don’t even mind. There was laundry piling up. The kitchen needed a deep clean and of course we are still rolling along with this challenge. After doing a bunch of random stuff around the house, I finally sat down to write and share Day 12 shenanigans.
My movement message of the day was tied to a video that I saw on Instagram of a granddaughter asking her 102 year old grandmother what was the tip or secret to living a healthy life and she said loving yourself. I believe this to be so true. I know for women especially of past generations, its been the norm to give selflessly before considering ourselves. This way of thinking can lead to resentment and burnout.
I know that our schedules are so busy these days that it can be a challenge to put ourselves first but it is one of the most important things we can do. Pouring into ourselves can look like but is not limited to:
- Going On A Walk
- Meditation
- Movement
- A Tea Ritual
- Reading A Book
- DeCluttering (If you don’t find this sort of thing stressful, I personal LOVE it)
- Journaling
- Drawing (no matter how good you are)
- Have A Dance Party For One
- Make A Vision Board
- Make A New Recipe
When we take care of ourselves first, it puts us in a better position to help others! Pouring into ourselves before to start pouring into others leads to giving from our overflow! Is there anything you would add to this list?
