The Artist’s Way Challenge- Progress Over Perfection

Hello love and welcome back to my space! Yesterday I completed Day 12 of The Artist’s Way Challenge! It also marked the first day I almost ACTUALLY quit! If you were in my stories yesterday, you know I woke up to a flat tire. Although things were taken care of pretty quickly for some reason, my day FELT completely derailed. I felt like I couldn’t quite wrap my head around the tasks at hand and I kept getting distracted.

Que to me having an hour before going on a date scrambling to get a blog post together, edit photos, get a quick video together, make my little pictures on Canva and share them! In ONE hour! Why did I put it off for so long, lol. If I were typing this on my phone there would be all sorts of emojis, lol. Anywho, although I was far from satisfied with the final results, I made it baby!!!

This is the whole point of this challenge for me, getting over any idea of perfection and flexing my consistency muscle! This is so uncomfortable for me. I, in no way, think my work is anywhere near perfection but some days I’m really like, YIKES, you really shared that. Here’s the thing though, it’s not a big deal. It’s actually great. I’m learning things about myself. I’m practicing giving myself so much patience and grace. I’m making notes of what I would like to do better next time. I am absolutely GROWING through this practice, as uncomfortable as it maybe.

Once I hit ‘publish’ and ‘share. I was able to have a lovely night out with Michael! I share all this to say, if you are waiting for the perfect circumstances to do something, you may be waiting forever my dear. Do you know how many people die with so many great ideas inside of them because they were waiting for the perfect time, the perfect circumstances! Darling, the ONLY way to get good at something, to master something, to perfect something to practice it! So get on it! Do not let this idea of perfection stop you from going after what you want!
