75 Hard Challenge-Day 1

Hello Love and welcome back to my space!  I know it’s been a while because to be completely transparent, I don’t know what I’m doing with my life, or this space. Although all of the original reasons I created this space still exist, the world feels like a very different place for so many reasons.

A little over a year ago, when we returned from our vacation to Tennessee, we decided we would be moving to Chattanooga, Tennessee. For the past year our lives have been disheveled and it’s been challenging(to say the least) to stay grounded. When we made the move to Tennessee, two months ago, my mother-in-law(who moved with us), lost her ability to walk and so my husband and I became her full time caretakers, along with her two dogs. I share all of this to say, this move has been A LOT!

Well before the actual move happened, I was feeling stuck in a rut. I wanna get out, so I’m challenging myself to do the 75 hard challenge! I’ve seen so many of my insta friends do it and it looks like equal parts fun and challenging! I am sharing my journey through this challenge for one, to hold myself accountable and for two, to inspire you to try something new and challenging!

The rules of the 75 hard challenge are everyday for 75 days you:

  • Two 45 minute workouts(one must be outdoors)
  • Follow a diet- I am sticking to a WFPB diet using the daily dozens app to get at least 20 out of the 24 daily food suggestions
  • No alcohol- this is easy for me, I’ve been alcohol free for almost a year!
  • Take a progress picture- I will replace this with daily journaling.
  • Drink a gallon of water
  • Read 10 pages of non-fiction

I started the challenge yesterday and besides drinking a gallon of water a day, I love it! Day one of the challenge coincided with my 11 year wedding anniversary so come along for those shennanigans.

I started my day walking Roxy and Chloe. After that, I went to the park for my first 45 minute movement session. I love starting my day with a smoothie so I had the:

Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie:

For lunch we headed over to Southern Squeeze to celebrate and I started with a Lavendar Matcha. Then, I had the creamy vegetable soup  and the pesto hummus sandwich! Everything was AMAZING! After lunch we headed to Yellow Racket Records, Nadeau and Fresh Market! I fully intended to vlog the whole thing but I was just enjoying the moment!

My husband I headed home to chill for a bit and then headed to pick up the kids from school and headed to Mellow Mushroom! Did you know Mellow Mushroom has vegan cheese? Well, they do! My husband and kids ate the pizza and I got the Enlightened Spinach Salad. If you are vegan, make sure you order it without the feta cheese!

When we got home from dinner, I took Roxy and Chloe for a walk(a very slow walk, lol) getting in my second 45 minute movement session. When I came home, everyone was ready to watch a family movie and while we did, I snacked on popcorn and cashews.

After the movie was over, I came upstairs to read. I read a few chapters from Racism As Zoological Witchcraft by Aph Ko. This book is so good! After I journaled, I checked the daily dozens app to see how many serving suggestions I got, and it was 20 out of 24! It was a good day of eating, I think I’m ready for day 2! If you have any questions, lemme know! Thanks for reading!
