Hello Love! Welcome back to my space! Yesterday I completed day 16 of the 75 hard challenge and I noticed something! One of the food groups that I often have a hard time checking the boxes with is whole grains and it’s because certain whole grains, like oats, leave me feeling sluggish and tired. I know this is a recent thing because I remember interviewing Irene of Irene’s Green Cuisine and when she shared that oats made her feel sluggish and tired thinking, ‘i’m so glad they don’t make me feel that way’. And here we are, ha.
One of the things that happened when I switched to a plant based diet, 6 years ago was that I became much more in tune with how certain foods made my body feel. Every since then, I have encouraged people to start listening to their bodies! Here are some ways you can listen to your body:
- Before your feet hit the floor in the morning, do a quick body scan. Start at your feet and work your way up asking yourself, how each body part feels. When you are done, you will be in tune with which parts need a little extra love during the day.
- Throughout your day, take one minute every few hours to focus on your breath, checking in with yourself.
- While you are eating, take the time to enjoy the flavors and textutres of the food you are eating.
- After you eat your meals and snacks, assess how you are feeling. Ask yourself: how is my energy, do I feel nourished?
What would you add to the list? How do you listen to your body? Alright! Lets get into:
