The Artist’s Way Challenge- Got Creativity?

Hello love and welcome back to my space!! Woot Woot!!! Lol, what are we all excited about, I had a Dirty Chai and I’m feeling energized!!! Yesterday, Well, actually I’m writing this up at the end of Day 46 of The Artist’s Way Challenge. I’m realizing that I have not been giving myself enough credit for creating something EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! Flexing this consistency muscle feels real good!!! Yes, some days are rough AF, lol, but overall, it feels really good!

Tonight is going to be the first time during the challenge that I don’t meet one of my challenge requirements but it’s for a really good reason! My mom is coming to Chatty and her flight doesn’t get in until around midnight so my sleep is going to be lacking but it’s so worth it! I’ll take a nap tomorrow!

So obviously I have been thinking about creativity A LOT lately as I climb my way out of my creative rut and this moment in time is giving ‘fake it til you make it’ vibes, lol. If you create something every single day(even if it’s not great) you are bound to come up with some creativity. The thing is, there are so many way to express your creativity outside the bounds of the way you wish to express your creativity. Ya know. Like, even if you’re not making the content you want to make(if you’re a creative in that way) you can still paint your face, yes it’s unrelated to the thing you’d like to be doing but STILL creative. Let’s say you want to write a book but you don’t feel like you have the creative energy for that, making fancy mocktails or creating beautiful meals would still be a great use of your creative energy.

This is a lil rant, all I’m saying is, even if you are not creating in the exact way that you would like to be creating, you can still be creative in other ways, here’s a non-exhaustive list of ways to dip your toes back into creative waters that are not too daunting:

  • Funky Makeup ( or as I like to call it, face painting, lol)
  • Picking a song and dancing out how it feels in your body
  • Picking out an outfit you wouldn’t normally wear
  • Practice your craft everyday in small doses (10 minute writing/drawing/singing session)
  • Surround yourself with other creatives
  • Allow yourself to be bad at your craft
  • Doodle
  • Watch interviews of creatives
  • Make a vision board
  • Unplug
  • ReOrganize your closet/drawers/makeup/accessories
  • Kid Crafts!!!
  • A Challenge, lol
