The Artist’s Way Challenge- Get Out Of The Box

Day 7 Reflections/ Weekly Check In

Hello Love and welcome back to my space! One week down, 11 more to go!!! Yikes, 11, lol. 11 wonderful weeks of self discovery. I’m not going to sit here and pretend this has been easy. It hasn’t been . It’s been difficult to look back on these patterns that I continue to fall back in and keep myself stuck. One thing I know I’m not doing is beating myself up about it. I did that for so many years and all it does is make me feel terrible and spiral.

As I share often, whenever you find yourself back at day one, AGAIN, you starting from experience. You know your triggers, you know what works well and what doesn’t. Dust yourself off and move forward.

So, week one. It was a great week. We laughed, we cried, we wanted to quit but we kept moving forward. I know, I know. I didn’t tell you about the crying. These morning pages have snapped me right open, along with the prompts. There was one the other day where I had to write about ‘old enemies’. I don’t and have never had actual enemies but there have been people along the way that have not been kind. Thinking about these moments in my life had me deep in my feelings. That’s not that part that had me in tears though. The part that had me in tears was thinking about all of the angels that I have met, the book refers to them as champions.

When I think of all the ways my journey through this wild, crazy life has been touched by the most beautiful, compassionate, empathetic souls, I KNOW that I am so fortunate. I don’t know what my life would look like without them. All in all, this challenge is opening me up in all of the ways I hoped it would and more and I’m excited to continue this journey to see where it takes me!

All of this energy would not be possible without me making an effort to get out of the box of my own making. The box of stuckness. The box of complacency. The box of settling into comfort over growth. As uncomfortable as these growing pains are, I am choosing them over staying in the same place. If you are watching this journey with an angst inside of you about the box or ‘comfort zone’ that is feeling a little restrictive, it’s ok to want more. You don’t have to stay there if you don’t want to. There are so many ways you can step out of the boxes that you put yourself into or the boxes that society has put you in.This article has so many great ideas! If you have anything that has helped you get out of your comfort zone, feel free to share!
